Winter is almost at a close. I guess Mother Nature has been asleep the entire season....and woke up pissed. I have no idea how much snow is outside because thankfully I'm warm and toasty indoors. Though I did step out long enough to capture some quick shots...trust me, it was quick!
I am feeling lethargic tonight. I had to force myself to blog before I got comfy on the coach watching some obscure movie I've seen a million times and catching up on my favorite blogs. I knew once my pajama butt was settled I wouldn't move for anything.
I used textures for every piece today. Snow is...snow. It's bland and not very inspirational for me. I needed color, so that's what I set out to do.
I think I'll add the first photo to Etsy tomorrow...thoughts?
Stay warm and dry!

At A Glance
Thursday March 31, 2011. The weather was crazy as usual here. It was a snow/rain mix.
And there you have it folks...Thursday at a glance.
The only way for me to describe this photo? Telling my mind to shut up. Did it work? no.

3-10-11
Thursday's post is short. I have been brain dead this entire week and decided it was easier to just shoot then to think for the most part.
This was Pine Mountain on my way to work Thursday.

Day 42
Day 42 Friday February 11, 2011...the morning from hell. Three days later I am finally able to walk on my leg.
The following photos were not taken on this day, but I really don't care...after the week it's been it's a wonder I don't delete this for good.

Do The Bunny Hop
I have a lot of catching up to do...this should be interesting and will probably piss me off about half way through...
Day 41 was Thursday 10, 2011. We had a big snow the night before, but by the time I left for work most of it had melted. I photographed my footprints from the night before...shortly after the photograph, I fell on ice. I was sore, but not in that bad of shape. I guess what happened next was inevitable...I fell on Friday too! How common is ice injuries 2 days in a row? well leave it to me...it happened. Instead of falling on the intended target (my bum) I fell on my left knee with all my weight...yeah...I've been hopping around like a damn bunny ever since. Thus this blog is way late.
Enjoy the following photos, they only bring me pain lol.
I had a friend walk beside my print sometime during the night :)
More blogs to come...

Running On Fumes
It's day 21. yay. (sarcasm) I've hit a rut and I hope I'm out of it soon. Maybe it's not a rut, maybe it's the fact I'm running on 5 hours of sleep...I'm a 10 hour a night person (I don't have kids) so trying to stay alive on half of that really messes with your brain...just ask anyone at work lol.
Enough with the belly-aching though.
Last night there was rain, snow and ice. The following photos are the result.

I deliberately have too much sky in this shot. I need to see blue this winter!
Hopefully tomorrow is better. Fingers crossed.
Night all <3

Macros and Filters
Hello everyone :) More snow last night, meant a dreary day inside for me. I did manage to take a few photos before the light faded outside. I worked more on macro today since I only had a little to work with. I changed filters and contrast to help bring out the details more.
This one is my least favorite, but it accurately depicts a winter day. I still remember my college black and white photographer professor telling me "Get rid of the white in the sky. My eyes are flowing to the edge of the paper." I'll never forget that.
Not to toot my own horn, but I can already tell a difference in my style in just these 10 days. I'm becoming more comfortable with my camera. I feel inspired as I once was.
With much love and humility,
Mika.

Speaking for Itself
Tonight's (8th) post is basically nothing but photos. I was hoping for some decent shots and I got them. :) My work is speaking for itself...I bid you a fond farewell until tomorrow. <3

Snowballs and Snowmen
For all of my complaining yesterday about the 1-3 inches of snow "prediction" it didn't do any good. I think we're on the greater number..or above.
As bad as it is to drive in the crap it is a beautiful snow. The perfect snow for snowballs and a snowman. I was able to capture a few good photos on my way home from work. I hope to have some nice daylight photos of it tomorrow *fingers crossed*
This was taken in the parking lot at work. At the edge of dark I noticed how beautiful the trees were with the snow.
I changed the setting to try a different effect. Not the effect I was looking for, but it turned out to be my favorite of the night.
After trekking up the mountain side to my house I chose one final photo. The setting really captured the snowflakes.
Snuggle up with a blanket and enjoy the snow...inside :)
