Hello beautiful readers! I am currently sitting in the waiting room of an eye specialist. Thank God for Wifi and my Kindle! With that being said, let me apologize for the possibility of an ugly blog post. I needed to keep busy in this low lit, room of shear boredom!
Oh there is a TV, on Fox News.
Ahhh!
Anyway...
I wanted to share a few of my favorite picks from my latest session. Kaylynn is 3. Keith is 8 months. Both are beautiful and a real joy to photograph.
Be prepared...your heart will melt!

Session Preview - Shauni
Hello and salutations to my faithful readers - and a warm welcome to any newcomers who were curious enough to visit me from Gentri Lee. <3
I'm cheating as I type this. I feel compelled to admit it. I read today is National Honesty Day and goodness knows I celebrate every National XXX XXX by following the rules outlined therein. So yes I must confess I am typing this post Monday night, though you - my beauties won't read it until Tuesday. "Why, Mika? Why would you throw blogging etiquette out the window like this?" I know that's what you're thinking, right? I have a good reason - Tuesday May 1 will be my 8th Wedding Anniversary. My loving husband and I are disappearing for the day. :)
Of course always thinking about my readers I still wanted to share a few of my favorites from Shauni's photo shoot last week, even though I'll be far far away when I actually 'share'!
Enjoy!
Mika. :)
Curious to know; who stumbled here from Gentri Lee?

J & J Engagement Shoot
I finally have time to blog a sample of my last photo shoot. Jade and Josh were a blast to work with! I can honestly say there wasn't 5 minutes without laughter!
This was my first real engagement shoot and I'm proud of the results! Of course having two people so in love and fun to work with makes my job that much easier.
Congrats to the happy couple!

Alyssa's Bash
It's been far too long and instead of giving in to taking a nap...I thought I should blog. :)
I've come to the conclusion, summer is a very very busy season. I'm in no way, shape, form or fashion complaining; it's just an observation. In my last set of photos, I shelled out 75 images in 2 days...I will NEVER do that again. I was zonked to say the least. I've decided if someone wants the images that soon, they will have to fork over more money. I obviously did not get paid to do this, it was more of a challenge to see if it could be done. I have to learn not to test myself!
Thankfully I am not posting all 75 photos, but simply a few of my personal favorites.
I love Alyssa (and the rest of my family) and I'm grateful I was present to share in her joyful day!

Photography; It's Work
"Whew" That's all I can say about the past few weeks! I'm tickled pink to sit down long enough and type out more than a sentence. I have been terribly busy, but I can't remember half of what I've done. lol.
My photography class was going surprisingly well, despite the entire downtown area flooding the day before the first class. Becky at The Wilder Side of Art made an announcement today...she is closing her store at the end of the month. I'm truly upset; and not for the obvious reason. I have waited years for an art store to open up in town; and now it's over. I will still have classes elsewhere; but it won't be the same.
I have quite a few new followers on my blog and my fan page, so welcome to my crazy world. ;)
I hope things continue to look up.
I braved my sanity and lack of energy last month and took my 5 year old cousin Alyssa to the park for the day. I was pleased with the photos, but had to take a nap as soon as I came home. lol.
Enjoy; and as always I welcome feedback. :)
Several of the photo effects came from The CoffeeShop Blog I had been searching for a good Polaroid action and found much more on the blog!
Until next time,
<3

Photo Session
Yesterday Monday April 25, 2011 was an awesome day! After getting up at the ass crack of dawn for doctor appointments 30 minutes away and dealing with that stuff, I had a great evening doing a photo session for a life long friend and his wife.
A little history about this amazing couple...I have known Erik for about 12 years. He dated my best friend in high school and was just a awesome friend to be around. Long story short he has been working with me for about 2 or 3 years now. It's great having someone close around. His wife Amber is a sweetheart (and I'm not just saying that because she likes my photography). They (Erik and Amber) are still considered newlyweds...they have not been married a year. A few months in to their marriage they found out Amber has lymphoma in her lungs. She is a real trooper. I'm simply amazed at both of their confidence and strength. It's hard enough to be a newlywed (boy do I remember it too well) but to have cancer? Wow...just wow.
So that brings us to the photos. I'll be honest, I was quite nervous. I had not photographed real "people" (my Husband doesn't count, lol) since I was at Watkin's College of Art and Design. So, what...over 8 years ago? Yes, I was a little nervous. As always though, I worried over nothing. Once I took a few shots it was like everything came back to me.
Amber messaged me last night after viewing the results and said, "When I first thought about it I didn't think it would be a real happy occasion to take pictures but you captured our happiness and the happiness I have when I'm around Erik." it brought tears to my eyes...I'm glad I could be a part of the happiness. :)
Here is to a long life of love to the both of them. <3
